Duties: External candidates, the non-negotiable annual salary for this position is $56,731.74 (NAGE Unit 1, Grade 16, Step 1)
Support staff to the administration (where assigned) in accordance with Department of Corrections Vision, Mission, and Core values. Major job duties consist of scheduling in-person visits utilizing Inmate Management System, processing Visitor Applications utilizing Criminal Justice Inquiry System and maintain facility master visitor list. This includes complete criminal background and Victim Notification Registry checks, return improper or incomplete application, notify all visitors in writing of approval or in the case of denial, the reasons for such through the Visitor Status Notification Form and ensure visitors are not placed on more than one individual’s visiting list. Process vendors in PASS and maintain facility vendor list, prepare memorandums and monthly, weekly and quarterly reports. Record and distribute meeting minutes when needed and maintain several databases daily. Open and clearly respond to incarcerated individuals mail and civilian calls in a timely fashion and have knowledge of Department of Correction Policy Procedure. Maintain accurate and current files, exercise and maintain sound judgement and maintain confidentiality in handling all materials; Maintain a professional relationship with department staff. Excellent word processing and proofreading skills. Ability to work independently and have excellent organizational skills.

First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.Applicants must have at least (A) five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, of which (B) at least two years must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity, or (C) an equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below:
''I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
''II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required experience. ''
III. A diploma for completion of a one year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum or one year of the required experience. ''
IV. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for two years of the required experience. ''
Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
