Cleaning Manager - BBC

JOB PURPOSE:

To ensure the service provided by the Cleaning Team is delivered to a continuously high standard and that the requirements of the Client and Customers are met in professional and timely manner and in line with the scope of contract.

Drive and passion to deliver a First-Class Service and Standards is essential to this role as we move towards Flagship status for the BBC's main location.

 

The cleaning across the complex is a 24/7 provision with a supervisor on shift at all times who are Direct Reports into the Cleaning Manager.  The successful candidate will need excellent leadership, discretion, be extremely organised and experience within a demanding corporate Customer / Client facing environment.

 

Vital to this role is strong people management as there is a large team comprising of direct reports and circa 80 cleaners across varying shifts.

 

A One Team approach, working closely with all other service lines across FM and Engineering is key for business continuity.

 

MAIN DUTIES:

Responsible for leading and delivering Cleaning Services in line with the contractual requirements, ensuring that KPI's are adhered to Lead, coach, guide and develop the team to ensure all are working to deliver an exceptional service throughout their allocated spaces Ensure that all team members are in the correct uniform and PPE at all times and regularly reviewed Ensure that any Client/Customer requests/complaints are dealt with professionally and promptly Ensure that team meetings are co-ordinated as and when required Ensure sufficient internal/external training is provided where required including Toolbox Talks and Safety briefings Ensure that work orders and requests are raised in the correct way, carried out and checks made upon completion to ensure standards are met Develop best practice to drive services and quality improvements Carry out regular quality checks and site audits e.g. KPI, QHSE etc Responsible for the supervision of sub-contracted services such as equipment servicing, window cleaning by external contractor etc Be aware of the business continuity plan for the part of the business you work in Cover as required or in the absence of Team Supervisor(s)

 

People Management & HR

Deal with all HR related issues including but not limited to attendance, time management, investigations, disciplinaries, grievance, welfare, Occupational Health Experience of conducting investigation and disciplinary meetings is essential Recruitment Manage and develop the site/s team/s through effective induction, training, development and annual appraisals Give feedback on performance in relation to tasks undertaken, as well as at performance reviews

Health and Safety

 

Maintain a good working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation Ensure that anything QSHE related is dealt with within the required timeframes Maintain a safe working environment within the areas of responsibility and champion zero accidents and incidents Ensure monthly reporting of hazards and interventions is carried out and all actions are closed out within the required timeframes Ensure the site meets statutory compliance regulations within your service line Ensure all training is carried out by all teams as required and records are kept up to date Ensure site documentation is reviewed and updated as required Ensuring that all sites meet Health and Safety, Statutory and Contractual obligations, and that the requisite supporting documentation is complete and readily available at all times.

Finance

Approval of works/supplies up to designated limit Raising PO's & JAF's Participate in weekly PO calls and anything finance related as required for reporting Weekly update of JAF'S and informing Commercial if they have been completed Updating weekly forecast spend Ensure that payroll is completed within required timeframes and any queries/reconciliations are actioned promptly Manage agency and Overtime spend in line with budgets

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION (Experience/Qualifications/Skills)

Proven ability and experience essential of leading and managing a large team Experience of cleaning methods, equipment and products Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with colleagues, clients, visitors including VIPs Proactive and forward-thinking approach to work, demonstrating adaptability and flexible working Strongly self-motivated individual possessing a can-do attitude and a drive to learn and share best practices The ability to manage customer satisfaction and continuously review and improve all aspects of the operation and quality of service delivery The ability to introduce change through a structured approach

 

Team management skills including communication, motivation, prioritisation, planning and coaching/training Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations (IOSH desirable) Ability to use initiative, judgement and take/make decisions Ability to act calmly and give clear instructions in pressured situations Ability to work and lead in a demanding environment Team player Tact and diplomacy Good interpersonal skills Excellent time management skills Positive and self-motivated disposition
