This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled and experienced engineer to join a highly talented muti-disciplinary team and contribute to cutting-edge technological advancements to an impactful program. **Job Duties:** As a Structural Engineer at Nightwing, you will join a multidisciplinary team engaged in research and development and mission support. The core of this role centers on conducting structural analyses and generating detailed designs, collaborating closely with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering professionals to produce effective solutions. This position requires working with a range of materials, including composites, coordinating and executing materials testing, utilizing fundamental understanding of geotechnical engineering, and leveraging expertise in design codes and construction practices. Supporting project managers and team leads in coordinating internal and external resources and fostering customer relationships through effective communication are essential aspects. You will foster innovation by researching and proposing enhancements to our structural design methodologies and take ownership of continuous improvement efforts. This position will provide support across various tasks, with opportunities for advancement into task leadership. **Required Qualifications:** + **Candidate must possess an active Secret security clearance with ability to upgrade to Top Secret** + Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. + Minimum of five (5) years of professional engineering experience. + Strong background in structural analysis, design codes, materials testing, and construction practices. + Proficiency in common structural design and analysis software such as RAM and IDEA StatiCA . + Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and practices. + Basic knowledge of soil mechanics tests and geotechnical engineering principles. + Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills. + Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, collaborative team environment balancing often widely different project tasks and types. + Independently seek opportunities to improve existing processes and contribute to project efficiency. + Demonstrated ability to take initiative in identifying and resolving complex engineering challenges, with a proactive and results-oriented approach. + Ability to deliver timely solutions for tight project deadlines. + Ability to perform physical tasks as required for benchtop and representative environment evaluations. Tasks may include lifting 50 pounds. + Ability to travel to temporary assignments outside of the greater Washington DC Metropolitan area. Travel <10%. **Desired Qualifications:** + Master’s degree in civil engineering. + Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil or mechanical discipline. + Construction experience including excavation, earthwork and/or foundation construction. + Experience working with composite materials. + Experience in project management. + Experience with research and development projects.
