Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a CIVIL HIGHWAY ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING (EIT) to be based in the Greater Philadelphia Area. AECOM has offices in Philadelphia and Conshohocken, PA as well as Newark, DE.
In this role, you will partner with a project engineer to originate calculations, develop plans and models on medium to large scale transportation projects in the Greater Pennsylvania Area.
Current notable projects include:
I-95 RECONSTRUCTION (Philadelphia, PA) – Urban interstate reconstruction including interchange ramp and local roadway re-alignments, traffic control, and utility coordination in final design to mitigate level of service and improve existing conditionsSTATE RD RECONSTRUCTION (Bucks County, PA) – Suburban arterial reconstruction including right-of-way plan development, roadway geometry, pavement design, traffic control, and utility coordination in preliminary engineering to mitigate existing roadway floodingSR1 RECONSTRUCTION (Chester County, PA) – Freeway reconstruction including profile adjustments, interchange reconstruction, interchange ramp realignments, multiple roundabout designs, trail designs, and side road alignment adjustments.US-22 RECONSTRUCTION (Allentown, PA) – Urban interstate widening from 4 to 6 lanes. Project Includes bridge replacement, interchange reconfiguration, stream relocation, sound barriers, safety improvements, traffic control, and utility coordination.I-81 RECONSTRUCTION (Avoca, Moosic, and Scranton, PA) - Urban Interstate reconstruction including mainline widening, 2 interchanges being fully reconstructed including ramp realignments, intersection improvements, right-of- way coordination, and structure coordination for 15 bridges along mainline and ramps.Why AECOM

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Develop design criteria, horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation detailsDevelop rigid and flexible pavement designsPrepare signing and pavement marking plans and detailsPrepare construction phasing plans and develop maintenance of traffic based on interdisciplinary coordination and constructability reviewsIdentify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews, client feedback, and utility needsDevelop construction quantities and cost estimatesImplement 3D CADD modeling techniquesDevelop technical reports, tables, and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standardsAdhere to and promote AECOM quality proceduresWork collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client’s scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision makingAcquires skills through education, training, and new experiencesReceives guidance and support on new assignments and begins to work independently on more straightforward tasksAccountable for specific portions of a project or process with general oversight.Analyze issues and apply solutions using standard procedures and known techniquesApply judgement withing defined parameters to find the best solutionProvide feedback about existing procedures and contribute to new ideas and approachesLearn to be responsive to latest information and adapt to modified approaches when circumstances changeApply education, growing industry knowledge, technical capabilities and experience to perform assignmentsMay support development of less experienced colleaguesQualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program plus two (2) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, with highway transportation projects located in the United StatesEIT CertificationValid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM officesAs a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records reviewDemonstrated knowledge of MicroStation, Civil3D, and/or OpenRoads DesignerPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with SignCAD or GuideSign, and AutoTURN software programsDesign experience working on projects for PennDOT and/or the PA Turnpike CommissionAbility and willingness to operate within a hybrid work environment with hybrid teamsAbility to utilize spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office softwareBe curious and proactiveAdditional InformationRelocation assistance is not available for this position.
