Key Responsibilities:
Review and understand the project plans, specifications, and relevant codes and standards related to excavation work. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the excavation activities and ensure they are executed according to the approved plans and specifications. Verify the soil conditions, depth, and dimensions of the excavations to confirm they meet the design requirements. Inspect the placement and compaction of backfill materials to ensure proper soil density is achieved. Identify and document any deviations from the approved plans and specifications, and work with the construction team to implement corrective actions. Perform quality control checks on the excavation work, including testing soil samples, as per the project's quality assurance plan. Maintain detailed records and documentation of all inspections, tests, and observations. Collaborate with the project team, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, to address any excavation-related issues and ensure the timely completion of the work. Comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations and Bureau Veritas' policies and procedures. Provide technical support and guidance to the construction team on excavation-related matters.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in construction inspection, with a focus on excavation and soil-related work. Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations related to excavation work, such as ASTM, AASHTO, and local building codes. Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and technical documents. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the project team. Familiarity with quality control and quality assurance procedures. Certification in soil testing and compaction inspection would be an advantage. Willingness to work in a field environment and travel to project sites as required.
