Our Tucson, AZ multi-disciplined water team is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training to work on a diverse range of pipeline and conveyance projects, such as gravity sewer pipes, force mains, water distribution systems and transmission mains, site civil, irrigation, drainage, and both water and wastewater pump stations. Your Key Responsibilities Collaborate with local and virtual project teams and senior project staff to produce high quality work products for our municipal and regional clients with a moderate level of guidance. As such, tasks may include performing engineering calculations, preparing detailed design drawings and specifications, and preparing planning and technical engineering reports. All tasks will be performed under the supervision of a professional engineer. Other responsibilities include: Perform detailed civil engineering design inclusive of: engineering drawings and specifications, hydraulic system calculations, pipeline alignment and route studies, pipe material design selection, engineering memorandums and reports, valving and pump sizing criteria and prepare applications for regulatory agencies. Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables. Attend and assist in client, contractor, stakeholder, and regulatory agency meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals, project requirements, site assessments, key challenges, coordination. Assist in the development of design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, surveyors, and environmental specialists, ensure compatibility with the design intent. Participate in field investigations and site inspections to gather relevant data and assess project conditions. Collaborate with senior engineers to identify and resolve design or construction challenges. Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to request for information, prepare site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks. Conduct quality assurance reviews of project deliverables. Your Capabilities and Credentials General understanding of concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design, such as gravity and pressure systems, geotechnical, survey, drainage design, erosion and sediment control, and grading. Ability to solve problems and take ownership of assigned tasks using sound judgment, creativity and innovation. Demonstrated ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting. Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team. Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues with team members and clients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to convey information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as relevant discipline software programs, such as AutoCAD Civil3D, SolidWorks, WaterCAD, EPANet and/or other modeling software.Education and Experience
BS degree in civil, environmental, mechanical, or biosystems engineering, or related field, required. Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required, or ability to obtain within 3 months. Minimum 2 years of experience.Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
