Overview:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Team Leader is responsible for assisting all departments in the plant to support cost reduction programs through lean techniques, including, but not limited time studies, 5S+1, line balancing, etc, as well as delivering continuous improvement training programs. This individual is also responsible for updating and maintaining standard operating procedures, and implementing the training on these procedures. The CI Team Leader will also be responsible analyzing data in order to determine trends and improvement needs, as well as organizing projects related to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for leading and training Team Members on all 5S+1 and Continuous Improvement policies and methods.
• Sustain plant wide 5s+1
• Maintain 5S+1 audits
• Responsible for implementing the vision of Masonite through continuous improvement
• Coordinate process improvement efforts at facility and analyze gaps for recommendations to leadership
• Collect, manage, and evaluate process data for improvement initiatives pertaining to productivity, downtime, quality issues, etc.
• Develop and maintain performance (KPI) visuals on Tier Boards as well as tracking systems
• Utilize 4 blockers and A1’s for problem solving analysis
• Facilitate plant meetings and help summarize information from all departments
• Effectively present training materials to large groups of employees
• Assist in driving lean principles such as 5S+1, Waste Elimination, Kanban, Visual Standards, Flow Production, Changeover Reduction, Standardized Work, Mistake Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance, Ergonomics, Tool Based Problem Solving
• Assisting in Masonite’s Target Zero safety initiatives
• Support Corporate CI on special projects such as productivity improvements, defect reduction, capacity improvements, changeover reduction, and area layouts
• Periodic training and benchmarking trips at other plants
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or Associate Degree plus 3 years practical experience, preferred
• 3 years of manufacturing experience and understanding of a lean processes and techniques
• Lean GB certification highly desired or ability to attain within 1 year
• Proven leadership skills (experience successfully managing people/projects/processes/issues)
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills
• Excellent understanding of Lean Management
• Ability to work independently with little direction from Management
• Ability to multi-task & handle task with competing priorities
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
• Microsoft office programs including MS-Excel, MS Word, and MS Power-Point, MS Access or comparable programs
