Chubb Life HK: Head of Risk Management

This role is in charge of the risk management function of Chubb Life Insurance Hong Kong Limited (as Chubb or the Company) as Head of Risk and the day-to-day operations of the risk function.

In accordance with the Risk Appetite, the risk function of the Company identifies, assesses and manages both financial and non-financial risks being exposed by Life Insurance Business of the Company, in particular to protect interest of the Company and the policyholders. 

Act in the capacity as Head of Risk and Key Person in Charge of Risk Management of the Insurance Authority to ensure an effective Enterprise Risk Management of the Chubb Life Insurance Hong Kong Limited (or the “Company”). Optimize the risk and reward relationship of insurance business activities and contribute to the Company’s strategy plan. Lead the team and other risk steward to develop, maintain and enhance risk management and control systems to methodically identify, control and manage both the financial and non-financial risks inherent in life insurance business. Enhance and maintain effective risk program under relevant internal and external regulatory requirements, such as Hong Kong Risk Based Capital (HKRBC), as well as regulatory reporting such as Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA). The solid experience in IFRS 17 is a plus. Effectively engage with relevant regulators to ensure compliance of regulatory expectations and requirements in Risk Management. Provide risk challenges and recommendations from risk perspective for new product development and investment activities of Life Manufacturing Business. Review and challenge proposals in different governance committees including Finance/Actuarial, Reinsurance, Operations including Underwriting and Claims, Product/Distribution and Investment Committees. Monitor and manage risk and return of investment portfolio of Life business. Oversee and manage key distribution risk, and transformation risk of Life business including material outsourcing. Prepare the risk reporting material and report in quarterly and annual meetings of the Board of Directors and the Board Risk Committee of the Company. Collaborate with various functions to foster a risk-aware culture. Coach and guide junior team member in risk management practices to enhance the team performance. Collaborate with Regional and Global Life Risk and other Group Stakeholders to effectively implement all Group’s requirements for Life Insurance Business. Matrix report to Global Life CRO and prepare the risk material for the quarterly regional/global risk committee meetings. University degree or above in Risk Management, Actuarial Science or related disciplines, preferably with professional qualifications in Actuary and Risk Management.  Around 15 years of relevant experience in risk management, and majority of the past experiences should be gained within medium or large life insurance companies in Hong Kong. Solid hands-on experience and skills set in full spectrum of risk areas including: Financial risk management, operational risk and incident management, enterprise risk management; and Extensive experience in drafting and developing risk programs and reporting such as HKRBC, and ORSA / RCSA reporting. Other past experiences such as Risk/Actuarial Modelling, HKRBC or Solvency II are essential to this role.  In-depth knowledge and understanding in product design/pricing, ALM, investment, financial reporting such as IFRS 17, underwriting and other key life insurance operational areas are essential. The role will manage a small team in a middle size life insurance company offering full range of life products, and require highly hands on, while effectively lead and coach the team members.  Strong management capability in developing/enhancing risk management framework, with excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and project management skills. Proficiency in both English and Cantonese. Mandarin is an advantage.
