About the Role

As a Children’s Residential Carer (known locally as a Residential Care Officer Level 1) no two days are the same and you will be responsible for ensuring the children attend on site education, you will work with health care providers, and you will support the children to gain independent living skills.

This role also includes:

Holistic Approach: You’ll work within multidisciplinary teams to meet the needs of children.

Salary: £27,803 - £30,296 plus a sleeping-in payment of £40.76. Overtime is paid at time-and-a-half.

Shift Pattern: Full time, permanent, you will have a good work/life balance with a rota split between different shifts, some will include sleeping at the home. Rota’s are given in advance to ensure this balance is met. 

Our Home

Young people come to our secure home via the courts through the Youth Custody Service or for Welfare reasons. Our Care Officers here are trauma informed and help children rehabilitate back into the community, or transition into adult estates. We provide full training in trauma informed practices as well as in residential childcare to ensure children are being empowered to believe in themselves and to promote the best possible outcomes through education, health and intervention. We usually care for children age 11–18 years old. 

About You

No prior professional care experience is required for this position, as we offer comprehensive training, qualities we seek include:

Kindness and Compassion: Essential for creating a secure, nurturing environment Passion for welfare: An advocate for children’s wellbeing Boundary Settings: Establishing boundaries gently but firmly Resilience: The ability to empathise and understand the need behind the behaviour Qualifications and Skills: Basic IT skills and knowledge / experience of the caring profession, along with a willingness to obtain a QCF qualification in working with children.
