Job Title: Children’s Waiting Room Program Attendant           Locations: Cohen Clinic Fayetteville, NC  FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Status: Part Time Reports to: Program Director  GENERAL PURPOSE:  This position supports the work of the Armed Services YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the military community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Children’s Waiting Room (CWR) position ensures the safety of children who are checked into the CWR program while their parents/legal guardian are being seen in an approved, on-site medical clinic for themselves or other immediate household family member. This program aids in fulfilling our mission of enhancing the lives of military members and their families in spirit, mind, and body through programs relevant to the unique challenges of military life.  Hours: 10-15 hours per week (Monday - Friday)  JOB DESCRIPTION  ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:  + Provide assistance to Program Director and Program Coordinator   + Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, volunteers and participants; treat everyone with dignity and respect, and allow for individual differences   + Ensure and maintain an organized, safe and clean environment.   + Maintain program supplies needed to provide activities for participants    +  Interacts and plays with children on their level, as age appropriate   + Model appropriate behavior for children    + Address any parent concerns and refer unresolved issues to the Program Director  + Incorporate the YMCA character values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility into every aspect of your position         + Other duties as assigned  JOB QUALIFICATIONS  KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:  + Must be well organized and flexible   + Able to relate well to children, parents, and staff and be a positive role model   + Skill in organizing and executing age-appropriate activities for children   + Must have the ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with the military community   + Willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with our mission   + Display emotional maturity, stability, and punctuality   + Able to maintain control of participants in an effective manner.   + Must have excellent written and oral communication skills  + Must be customer service oriented with good interpersonal skills   + Must be able to work with minimal supervision   +  Must be able to work individually and as part of a team  EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE:  + Must be at least 18 years old   + Must pass a background check   + Must have a valid driver’s license   + Experience working with children  + Must be certified in CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention; will provide training if hired  WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:  + Children’s Waiting Room operates at The Cohen Clinic in Fayetteville, NC + Must be available to work variable hours Monday - Friday (Total hours: approx 10-15 hours per week).  Must have transportation to childcare site. + Ability to interact professionally with the general public, ASYMCA leadership team, and co-workers   + Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions   + Active movements required to play and interact with program participants of various age groups through a wide variety of indoor and outdoor settings   + Sitting, kneeling, and stooping for short periods of time.
