Children's Activity Host - Shipboard
This exciting job role as "Children's host" is onboard Marella Cruises and involves delivering a wide range of fun activity in "M-Club". Seasonal and Full-time contracts available. Led by the M Club Manager, the Children’s (M-Club) Hosts will assist the Cruise Director in delivering a fun, modern and varied children’s entertainment programme, whilst providing excellent childcare on board a specified Marella Cruise Ship. As a member of the Children’s Entertainment Team, you will be providing an excellent childcare service and hosting/leading events and activities for the younger guests on board. This includes activities such as games, sports, competitions, quizzes poolside events, arts & crafts, treasure hunts, dancing, sensory play, and much more! You will work with young guests aged 0-17. Current Opportunity We are looking for Children's Host to work onboard for Immediate start and contracts throughout the year. Role & Responsibilities + Deliver and promote the children’s entertainment and childcare offering to an exceptionally high standard. + Host and lead events and activities for younger guests on board. + Ensure every child is included, happy and safe when participating in M Club. + Provide energy and enthusiasm in role to help raise the experience of all younger guests. + Communicate well with parents and carers to ensure all children’s needs are being met and a high level of service is being provided. + Ensure all policies and procedures are being adhered to, ensuring every child and staff member is always safe. + Participate in events such as the sail away party and deck parties. + Support with administration duties delegated by the Senior Children’s host. + Provide exceptional customer service to guests of all ages on board when present in guest areas. + Ensure you’re meeting grooming guidelines by maintaining your appearance. + Engage with on board responsibility that includes guest mustering, drills and emergency procedures. Full training is delivered on board. Qualifications & Skills + Must hold a relevant UK childcare qualification. Level 3 is expected but level 2 can be considered. + Must have strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and health and safety procedures and policies. + Must have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and connect with all guests. Character & Attitude + Flexibility is required due to the nature of working on a ship. + A positive and “can-do” attitude is a must. + Personable and friendly with the ability to work in a small and a large team. + Ability to use own initiative and support others. + Must be passionate about working with young people. Experience + Experience working with young people is a must. + Experience in customer facing roles is necessary. + Experience working in a team is important. Benefits + Staff receive accommodation and food in addition to the salary. + Children’s hosts are granted access to guest areas on board. + Staff have opportunities to disembark ship whilst docked in ports during time off. Other Requirements + Must complete STCW (Safety at Sea; First Aid; Fire Fighting) training prior to embarkation (FULL TIME contract only). + Must purchase a valid ENG1 Medical certificate all contracts. + Must have a valid passport with at least 9 months validity at time of embarkation. + May be required to purchase visa if sailing in USA Additional Information + In order to comply with ILO directives, it is your responsibility to ensure that you receive a minimum of 10 hours rest in each 24-hour period. + You will be contracted to work up to 10 hours per day, seven days per week whilst on board. These exact hours and timings vary day to day depending on the needs of the business. + Flights and ship transfers are provided but transport to and from your home airport are not provided. + The role would require the host to register as self-employed + Visas may be required dependent on allocated ship itinerary.
