Child Protection Officer (CM & PSS) - Beirut

The Child Protection (CP) Officer will be responsible for working in partnership with IRC Child Protection Partners, schools, and community stakeholders. Included but was not limited to designing, planning, and leading capacity-building activities for the partners and community stakeholders.

1. Technical Responsibilities:

Work closely with the CP partners implementing CP activities for children and caregivers in the areas of interventions.Schedule Weekly field visits to the CP partner’s offices and centersAttend and monitor the partner’s activities at the field levelDesign, plan and lead in training the CP Partners staff on implementing PSS activities for children and caregivers in the areas of the interventions.Design training package for community stakeholders from different backgrounds (non-CP aid workers, community volunteers, and networks, municipal police, camp representatives, etc.…) on different CP topics (child safeguarding, safe identification, and referrals, communication with the children, etc.….).
Conduct TOT training of Trainers for CP partners on different CP topics (child safeguarding, safe identification and referrals, communication with the children, etc…).Set timely training plans based on identified needs for the partners and community stakeholders in the areas of the intervention.Raise all the training materials and plans for review and approval prior to putting them into action.
Conduct weekly monitoring visits to the partner’s activities sites, schools, and share documented feedback on the visits with the partners and to the respective managementProvide technical support and on the Job coaching to CP local partners implementing PSS activities for children and caregivers in the areas of intervention.Ensure that partners are implementing CP activities with children and caregivers in accordance with IRC-CPs curriculums and standards.Ensure that partners are implementing case management activities with children and caregivers in accordance with IRC SOPs and the national CP CM SOPs.Provide the case audit to the partners’ case workersProvide coaching and monitoring on the child protection cases of the partnersSupport partners to set detailed implementation plans for CP activities in the areas of intervention to Ensure that the partner targets are met by the end of the project period.Liaise closely with the CP manager and senior Monitoring and Evaluation officer to develop M&E tools needed for training and other capacity-building activities (pre/post-tests, observation tools, database, training evaluation forms etc.…).Provide the proper observation and monitoring to the Child protection focal points inside the schools.Foster an open channel of communication with the teachers, directors, supervisors at schools/centers having CP implemented activities.Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation activities to assess the progress and impact of capacity-strengthening activities; ensuring they meet project objectives and timelines.Facilitate mentoring and coaching sessions to enhance organizational governance and technical capacities.Work closely with the Senior M&E officer to support the CP partner’s capacity on M&E.

2. Reporting:

Report on workshops conducted (including dates and times), names of staff documentation of attendants’ lists, discussions, observations/analysis, challenges, success stories, recommendations, and plans.Reports are to be submitted to the Child Protection Specialist following the data confidentiality protocol.

3. Other Tasks:

Liaise with the CP Support Manager to ensure that all logistical requirements for the training are finalized.Build strong relationships with local partners, by maintaining mutual respect and vision.Participate in the development of lessons learned and best practices.Assume full responsibility for tracking individual participants in training databases, and ensure data entered is accurate and up to date.Assume full responsibility for all relevant monitoring and evaluation activities (capacity-building reports, training evaluation reports, Pre – Posttest Analysis reports, etc...)Document all training, workshops, and field visits using the appropriate toolsReport data and draft narrative report in a timely manner.Participate in team meetings and partner meetings with the CP specialistSupport with other training for other CP projects when needed.Other CP activities as requested by the supervisor.
