Summary of Job Duties:This position is located in Fort Smith, Arkansas

KIDS FIRST serves children with special healthcare needs ranging in age from six weeks to five years. In our pediatric day healthcare clinics, children diagnosed as having a medical condition known to place them at risk for developmental delays and disabilities receive intensive intervention.

The Child Development Technician assists the Early Childhood Development Specialist in providing care and intervention to a group of infants, toddlers and/or preschoolers with developmental delays and special medical needs.
Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED PLUS (6) six months experience working with childrenAdditional education including a CCOT, CDA, or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field may be substituted for experience requirement.

Responsibilities:

Follows the direction of the ECDS to provide developmental services and treatment in a manner that is child-centered, family focused, and demonstrates evidence-based or best practice. Provides rich learning environments for young children, applies curriculum to address the objectives contained in each child’s treatment plan, and implements suggestions of the treatment team. Records accurate data in the patient medical record, compliant with the guidelines set forth by UAMS Kids First and accrediting organizations, according to established timelines. Positively interacts with others demonstrating customer services skills as described below. Accepts other duties as assigned based on clinic need.Provides quality direct patient care for a group of young children according to the policies and procedures set forth by UAMS Kids First including serving mealtimes, assisting with feeding, diapering, dressing, providing developmentally appropriate behavioral guidance within daily scheduled activities.Always maintains active supervision of the children and assures compliance with ratio.Provides coaching and instructional support to Child Development Technicians.Assists with onboarding and mentoring new Child Development Technicians. May assume role of “lead” assistant to ECDS.


Salary Information:

$31,200 annually
