Pay and benefits for employees represented by a union are outlined in their collective bargaining agreement. **Position Purpose:** Acts as a deputy to the Chief Plant Operator, with a focus on compliance data review, providing system adjustment recommendations, and maintaining and reporting compliance. May lead one or more Treatment Operator personnel and/or other workers in performing assigned responsibilities and duties. During periods of coverage, is responsible for the actions of Treatment Operators, who constantly assess the risk of injury to themselves, co-workers, the general public, and property. Under the direction and guidance of management, coordinates, plans, and assigns work, and oversees personnel engaged in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of water production and treatment, controls, equipment, facilities, and grounds. Creates and completes maintenance activities on production, treatment, and control equipment. Fulfills the responsibilities and duties of an Operator, Supervisor, or Chief Plant Operator as needed. **Primary Duties/Responsibilities:** + Interacts with, coordinates, and supports the Operations/Maintenance staff, Lab personnel, Water Quality Specialist, Production Manager, EH&S Specialist, Engineering, Lead Operators, Engineering staff, Administrative staff, and the Client to perform related responsibilities. + Trains personnel in assigned areas of responsibility. + May perform duties associated with client interaction, such as reporting system updates, compliance, system deliverables, explanation of system water quality, and system adjustments for optimization. + Accountable for completeness and accuracy of all digital operational records and governance of supporting systems. + Executes work assignments, and may oversee personnel engaged in installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of water production, treatment, and control equipment, facilities, and grounds. + Furnishes other departments or individuals (e.g., engineering, company contractors, etc.) with relevant information and accompanies others during operations inspections. + Ensures all compliance-related equipment is installed and operated properly. + May perform and oversee intermediate to complex troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, pumping, and other equipment and facilities associated with water production, treatment, and control. **Qualifications** **Education/Experience/Background:** + Minimum requirements: High school education, valid CA drivers license and valid State of California Grade V Waste Water treatment plant operator certificate, or Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate. + 5 years prior experience as a water treatment/wastewater Operator. + 2 years prior lead role or supervisory experience. **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:** + Demonstrated high-level proficiency in operating and maintaining water production wells, water treatment facilities, and control equipment. + Ability to read, interpret, comprehend, and communicate contents of instructions, technical manuals, engineering plans, and the like. + Knowledge of the principles and practices of wastewater treatment and/or water treatment water plant operations. + Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to wastewater system operations + Ability to read, interpret, comprehend, and communicate contents of instructions, technical manuals, engineering plans, and the like. + Strong knowledge of water system operations, construction, and plumbing applications and practices. + Knowledge of and ability to perform standard laboratory sampling and testing + Good supervisory and leadership skills. + Good communication skills, both oral and written. + Good organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. + Competent to function in the digital world, using computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone devices and software to communicate and perform and record work. + Proficiency with business office computing systems. + Ability to perform professionally under pressure and under stressful circumstances. **Required Certification/Licenses/Training:** + Must possess and maintain a valid CA State Driver's License. + Must possess a CA water treatment/wastewater Grade V license or obtain it within one year of entering the job classification. **Additional Information** We are an Equal Opportunity Employer!
