ABOUT HMM

Hotazel Manganese Mines (HMM) is made up of two Manganese mines Mamatwan and Wessels. Both operations are located in the Kalahari Basin, home to 80 per cent of the world’s manganese reserves.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As a Chief Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing specialized technical Survey support in line with Mine Planning and statutory requirements with special focus on Legal compliance.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

•Maintain and enforce Survey boundaries (Prospecting right, Mining rights, Servitudes); Legal Compliance (MHSA) and update Rehabilitation and Land Disturbance plans; •Audit and update prescribed plans and Survey network; •Coordinate the annual Aerial Survey for updating Survey Plans; •Oversee Tactical Stockpile management (Stockpile layouts, contamination, etc.); •Conduct stockpile audits (yearly); •Manage Land inventory (Farms, leases, royalties and land use agreements); •Represent the company at Public Forums (Neighbouring mines, communities, etc.); •Sign-off and submit prescribed plans (yearly); •Provide oversight and support to Production and Ore Accounting Surveying.

 

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

•Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining environment; •In depth knowledge and understanding of relevant Health, Safety and Environment legislation; •In depth knowledge and understanding of geology related to mining; •In depth knowledge and understanding of the principles of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserve Management; •In depth knowledge and understanding of different activities related to survey field work; •In depth understanding of different activities related to Survey Data Management; •In depth understanding of different coordinate systems (Clarke 1880, WGS 84, etc.).

 

Qualifications for this role are:

•Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Mineral Resource Management or Surveying; •Survey Government Certificate of Competency (GCC);
