Position Summary:
Bozeman Health’s dynamic and strategic Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) will lead all philanthropic efforts of Bozeman Health Foundation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bozeman Health, the CPO will work closely with the Foundation’s Board of Directors and Bozeman Health executive leadership to drive a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports the organization’s key strategic initiatives. This position is responsible for maximizing philanthropic potential and supporting the sustainability of Bozeman Health’s mission to improve community health and quality of life. The CPO will oversee a high-performing team, fostering a culture of philanthropy that engages donors, staff, volunteers, and the broader community.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
+ Seven (7) years of senior level development experience in a not-for-profit organization in healthcare, higher education, or related charity.
+ Preferred : Fundraising certification such as Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), Association of Healthcare Philanthropy Fellowship (FAHP), or other advanced fundraising credentials
+ Preferred : Advanced degree in a related field.

Strategic Leadership
+ Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to establish annual and long-term fundraising goals and metrics.
+ Develop and execute a comprehensive philanthropic strategy aligned with Bozeman Health’s mission and strategic goals.
+ Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and leadership team on all matters related to philanthropy.
Fundraising Management
+ Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations to ensure sustainable and impactful support.
+ Drive innovative approaches to donor engagement and retention, utilizing data-driven strategies to enhance and maximize fundraising outcomes.
+ Oversee all aspects of a thriving fundraising enterprise, including annual giving, major gifts, planned gifts, capital campaigns, special events, and grants.
Team Development
+ Facilitate communication across the Foundation and Bozeman Health to integrate philanthropy into the organizational culture.
+ Foster a positive work environment built on trust, respect, and commitment to the mission.
+ Monitor and adjust team performance to meet or exceed fundraising goals.
+ Oversee work plans, budgets, and timelines, ensuring efficient execution and measurable results.
+ Provide leadership to the Bozeman Health Foundation team, aligning efforts with organizational goals and fostering a collaborative, innovative culture.
+ Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, building a high-performing team dedicated to philanthropic success.
+ Set clear expectations, conduct evaluations, and offer professional development to ensure staff growth and effectiveness.
Board and Community Engagement
+ Collaborate with the Board to identify and cultivate major donors, enhancing fundraising efforts.
+ Facilitate communication and reporting on fundraising performance and campaign progress.
+ Partner with the Bozeman Health Foundation Board of Directors to build capacity and foster engagement in philanthropy.
+ Provide training and resources for Board members to strengthen their role as philanthropic ambassadors.
+ Serve as a liaison between the Board, Foundation staff, and leadership to ensure alignment of priorities.
+ Work with the CEO and Foundation Board to recruit and retain diverse, engaged Board members.
Financial Oversight
+ Ensure effective stewardship of donor contributions, maintaining the highest standards of fiscal responsibility, transparency, and reporting.
+ Oversee the Foundation’s budget, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and goals and facilitate timely transfers to Bozeman Health.

Schedule Requirements
+ This role requires regular and sustained attendance.
+ The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
+ On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
