Chief of Staff, Red Hat Experience Engineering
About the Job

The Red Hat Experience Engineering (XE) team is looking for a Chief of Staff to join us, preferably in our Raleigh, NC office. In this role as a key member of the VP’s leadership team, the ideal candidate will ensure smooth operations and clear priorities across the organization. This leader serves as an extension of the VP of Experience Engineering, understanding the strategic vision, assisting with balancing priorities, and maximizing the effectiveness of the leadership team. You should be able to proxy for the VP as needed.  You will take on occasional strategic projects in support of the leadership team. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What You'll Do

Manage and facilitate the cadence and content for the leadership team ensuring objectives are achieved and action items are executed

Help to strategically prioritize the VP’s time by ensuring that necessary pre-meetings are conducted and the VP is informed and prepared as needed

Attend meetings and calls on behalf/proxy of the VP as required

Evaluate opportunities and determine fit with priorities

Monitor information flow, sometimes acting as a gatekeeper, ensuring VP’s involvement in a project or decision-making process at the right moment

Act as advocate for the VP’s colleagues or associates, communicating wants, needs, concerns and ideas from associates to leadership, effectively and efficiently

Manage the organization’s OKR (or other measurement/goal setting) program

Drive team strategic alignment by ensuring the organization’s priorities are clearly communicated and all leaders are aligned

Prioritize leadership focus and identifying metrics for success; lead regular reviews and progress evaluations

Create and maintain cross-departmental relationships to enable leadership success by assessing issues that may have cross-organization impact, providing awareness, risk mitigation and alignment

When required, oversee large, cross-functional organization-wide projects or initiatives, bringing together multiple stakeholders to help drive decisions

On behalf of the team, track budget and headcount, creating systems and processes to streamline operations and orchestrating special events when needed

What You'll Bring

8+ years of experience in the technology and customer experience  industries

BS or BA degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., computer science, business administration, communications)

Experience with managing and driving critical, complex projects through project completion 

Deep familiarity with highly technical and customer-facing teams and processes; understanding of the applicability of different skills and methodologies

Expert ability to constructively discuss and gain consensus on critical and controversial topics with discretion and tact

Proven track record of effectively interacting with executive management teams 

Expert oral and written communications skills that demonstrate professional demeanor and ability to partner with others; proven ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments through business planning and operations 

Effective interpersonal skills; solid presentation development and delivery skills

Ability to inspire, create relationships and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels

Experience with budget management

Trustworthiness with high integrity and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality

Ability to manage a small team to support operational requirements of the organization

The salary range for this position is $125,760.00 - $207,530.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
