Chief Financial Officer Asia Pacific

What can you expect:

Reporting to the Global Chief Financial Officer, Guy Carpenter, the successful candidate will lead and be responsible for all aspects of financial management including strategic planning, analysis, budgeting, and reporting for Guy Carpenter’s Asia Pacific operations.  Key stakeholders include the Asia Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Guy Carpenter’s Global Chief Financial Officer, business leaders (both regional and domestic) and other departments as required as well as international stakeholders.

POSITION SCOPE

We will count on you to:

Understand and interpret business trends (economic, competitive et al) and provide financial insights to help the company make decisions at a senior level.Influence others on the prioritization of strategies and tactics by providing a financial perspective and relevant financial information to assist with the decision-making process.Identify what needs to be done to bridge any gaps through monitoring the annual plan and leading the proper action plans.Act as overall coordinator and first-line advisor to the Global Chief Financial Officer and APAC Chief Executive Officer on all finance-related issues.Plan, direct and control the businesses’ overall financial plans and policies as well as accounting practices.Be responsible for the quality of financial reporting and provide suggestions to senior management based on analysis.Keep optimizing processes and substantially enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of the finance function.Actively keep stakeholders engaged and aware of critical activities and issues.Develop and coordinate necessary and appropriate finance and statistical data and reports.Analyze and consult on the financial impact of key departmental strategies for growth.Build strong relationships and foster teamwork among group wide departments and staff to achieve maximum performance.Manage a team of finance professionals in the region and provide leadership, guidance and hands-on management and mentorship.Provide professional training to finance staff to improve working processes and quality.

What you need to have:

University graduate with a recognized degree in subjects such as finance, accounting, business or related disciplines.  Qualified or equivalent professional qualifications (Chartered Accountant/ CPA/ ACCA/ CIMA etc.) is preferred.At least 10+ years of experience in a finance role within a global, highly matrixed organisation.  Relevant professional and management experience at senior level within sizable organizations.Solid corporate experience, especially coming from a B2B environment.  Prior experience working in a financial/ insurance/ reinsurance firm is highly desirable.Progressive financial management experience in an international and geographically distributed organization.Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and influence in a complex matrix environment.Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact in a team environment with all levels of employees including senior management.  Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to connect effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong business acumen, along with a good understanding of the critical business drivers.Proven ability to influence across the business and serve as a strategic soundboard to senior management.Commercially astute and able to work with the business on deriving leads to drive business growth and development.Proven capabilities in driving a business and financial agenda as well as focusing on the major strategic issues facing the organization as it moves forward.Demonstrated ability to respond to urgent requests and changing priorities on a daily basis.An inspiring and innovative leader who has managed and mentored a team before.Excellent communication skills in English.  Proficiency in an additional Asian language would be advantageous.
