Job Title: Chief Estimator

Location: Houston, TX

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM or 7 AM - 4 PM (flexible), weekends as needed

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing construction firm, is looking for a Chief Estimator to lead their estimating team. This role focuses on pre-construction planning, cost estimation, and bid strategy development for large-scale infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in heavy civil construction estimating, particularly in public and private sector projects, and a strong ability to manage bid processes from initiation to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the review of potential bid opportunities and assess project feasibility.

Oversee and manage quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and pricing strategies.

Develop comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.

Collaborate with project managers and executives to align estimating strategies with company objectives.

Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing.

Monitor industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to refine estimating processes.

Participate in pre-bid meetings, job site visits, and client consultations.

Utilize software such as Viewpoint, Bluebeam, Adobe, and HCSS for cost analysis and bid preparation.

What You Bring

10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Proven track record in estimating projects exceeding $25 million.

Expertise in highway, municipal roadway, mass excavation, and underground utility projects.

Strong proficiency in Viewpoint and Bluebeam, with experience in HCSS or Agtek preferred.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Stability in work history (4+ years per role preferred).

Experience with industry leaders such as Webber is a plus.
