The role
As a Chief Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Defence Support Group (DSG) plays a crucial role in national security by maintaining, repairing, and overhauling military vehicles and equipment for the MOD. We ensure operational readiness through innovative engineering services, fleet management, and equipment support, enhancing the Army's ability to respond to events both in the UK and abroad.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead the technical expertise for Babcock's Through Life Equipment Support (TLES) for military vehicles and equipment. This is a rare opportunity for a Chartered Engineer with a passion for ensuring technical excellence, to contribute to defence outputs across the UK.
Acting as Independent Technical Authority (ITA) for military vehicles and equipment Ensuring technical products and/or services meet national, corporate, and MOD standards Collaborating with Customer Engineering and Project Teams Leading the TLES DSG ITA team as the Technical Leader and Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) Aligning engineering and maintenance policies with MOD and Original Equipment Manufacturers
Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel to Bristol, Andover OR other DSG sites on a weekly / monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Chief Engineer
Extensive experience supporting MOD Land Vehicles and Equipment within and alongside the Army and/or Defence Equipment and Support Strong background in Through Life Support, Post Design Services, and Technical Assurance Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams Expertise in managing the entire lifecycle of military equipment
Qualifications for the Chief Engineer
Chartered Engineer with a relevant Engineering degree or equivalent
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
