Overview Mission of the role: Manages and coordinates the work of skilled engineering staff placing particular emphasis on guest satisfaction and the property in good working conditions. Supervises day-to-day engineering functions. The Chief Engineer oversees all aspects of hotel maintenance, including public space, guest rooms, kitchen and outlets, hotel equipment, preventive-maintenance programs, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Oversees entire Engineering Department. Supplies all technical and engineering information required to operate property and equipment. Purchases all necessary parts and services required for operation and maintenance of facility. Maintain accounting records and procedures for Department. Interviews and hires all personnel and processes any corrective action necessary on personnel. Establishes working schedules and job assignments. Responds immediately to all emergency calls, must know his position in the fire/emergency brigades, must make sure all members of the Engineering staff are trained in the proper ways to put out a fire and cope with and resolve emergencies. Contacts contractors to submit bids for new construction, and meets with construction supervisors to discuss different phase of work. Must be well groomed, in uniform with nametag on at all times while working on the property. Must be well mannered, display a smile at all times, greet guests and employees when encountered, show appreciation to the guests for being at the hotel, show willingness to help guest and employees at all times. Must be able to communicate with guests and all members of the staff to guarantee a complete and prompt guest satisfaction. Qualifications Must have previous Chief Engineering management experience in large, upscale, full-service hotel. Must have advanced working knowledge of all aspects of hotel maintenance. Strong technical skills in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Familiar with chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatments, pneumatics, control systems, water systems, boilers, refrigeration, compressors, etc. Must be have an available flexible schedule that includes nights/weekends/holidays.
