Job Title: Chief EngineerJob Description We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer who can dive deep into technical challenges, guide the team, and create and lead technical roadmaps. You will be at the forefront of solving difficult problems while also being able to zoom out and see the big picture of the program. The ideal candidate will be known in the industry, or have a reputation that precedes them, and will be comfortable interacting with various departments, including the C-suite, and representing the company at conferences. Responsibilities + Dive deep into complex technical problems. + Guide the team and create technical roadmaps. + Write code and develop roadmaps. + Pick the hardest challenges in the architecture. + Interact with other departments and the C-suite. + Represent the company at conferences. + Assign work with some lateral freedom, assuming a high level of expertise. + Advise the CEO on technical changes and priorities. Essential Skills + Proficiency in C and C++. + Extensive experience in software engineering. + Preferred experience in aerospace, satellite, or flight software. + Expertise in full life cycle software engineering. + Ability to think both in detail and with a big-picture perspective. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with aerospace or satellite industries preferred (e.g., SpaceX, NASA, Blue Origin). + Open to candidates from automotive, fusion, drones, or aircraft industries. Work Environment The work environment will primarily be in an office setting with the software engineering team. You will also have the opportunity to visit the rocket launch site in Briggs as needed. The role involves solving greenfield and difficult problems, with the company currently working on missions involving rover deployments and defense customers. The company is also transitioning to next-generation rockets, offering a highly configurable and challenging work environment. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $220000.00 - $250000.00/yr.
