OnsiteCollins Aerospace is searching for a Chemist Intern to support the Materials Engineering group within our Windsor Locks, CT facility. You will support our day-to-day work centered around manufacturing support, engineering, and sustaining support of our diverse product line encompassing life support and thermal control systems, inclusive of the NASA spacesuit. In this position, you will perform analytical chemistry and microbiological testing to support engineering and manufacturing operations, including analysis of water collected from spacesuits on the International Space Station. This is an onsite position, in Windsor Locks, CT.
What You Will Do:
You will perform routine and nonstandard chemical analysis using a variety of laboratory equipment and wet chemistry techniques.Tasks may include water analysis, polymer identification, oil analysis, gas sampling and analysis, and microbiological assays.Methods used will include IC, GC-MS, ICP, UV-vis, FTIR, and titrations as well as other nonstandard methods to be learned.You will perform special processes to assist in the manufacture or testing of hardware.You will work on record keeping, reporting, and communicating results to customers.What You Will Learn:
You will learn equipment maintenance, calibration, and use for data collection.You will learn materials evaluation and testing.You will learn water analysis, material identification (foreign object debris, residue on hardware, confirmation of proper materials received).Generally speaking, analytical chemistry skills and creative thinking around a constantly changing array of manufacturing and engineering problems.Qualifications You Must Have:
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.Qualifications We Prefer:

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
