Generate documentation to cover items such as circuit design philosophy, process design criteria, circuit description, process flow diagrams with mass balance, P&IDs, major equipment calculations and specifications, control philosophy and functional design specification. Be able to liaise with equipment vendors in relation to equipment selection and design.
Coordinating with external engineering consultants on process design as required.
Chemical Process Modelling Specialist Role Description\:
Chemical process modelling is a computer modelling technique used in chemical engineering process design. It typically involves using purpose-built software to define a system of interconnected components, which are then solved so that the steady-state or dynamic behaviour of the system can be predicted. The system components and connections are represented as a process flow diagram or a set of interconnected Process Flow Diagrams. Simulations can be as simple as the mixing of two substances in a tank, or as complex as an entire alumina refinery. This is commonly termed “Digital Twin”. Chemical process modelling requires a knowledge of the properties of the chemicals involved in the simulation, as well as the physical properties and characteristics of the components of the system, such as tanks, pumps, pipes, pressure vessels, and so on. Analysis of existing process problems and define robust and innovative solutions with limited oversight. Reporting simulation outcomes and sensitivity analysis used to reconcile and optimise plant operations. Collaborate with other discipline engineers / scientists to optimise and improve existing processes leveraging advanced process modelling techniques. Improvements and calibration of the simulation to better predict outcomes using published and verified test-work data. Collaborate closely with the advanced process controls / automation teams in the implementation of controls strategies which leverage first principles models for real time process automation. Ownership role over the linear programming model and economic evaluation, maintaining data quality and driving the model. Actively contributing to the innovation and ideation process through the use of modelling tools. Continual development of professional skillset. You’ll be\:
