Saint-Gobain Coated Abrasives is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chemical Process Engineer to join our Stephenville plant. This highly technical team is dedicated to producing high-quality coated abrasives and surface conditioning material products with exceptional operational efficiency.
The Chemical Process Engineer will be customer-focused and work collaboratively with other facility members to achieve outstanding results. They will be deeply involved in the continuous improvement of coated abrasives manufacturing processes, serving as a process chemistry knowledge expert and driving innovation through lean methodology and capital expenditure projects. The ideal candidate will identify process improvement opportunities alongside the manufacturing team, address any arising issues, and ensure sustained improvements.
Key Responsibilities
+ Analyze and optimize existing processes in the coated abrasive making line to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
+ Develop and implement process improvements for adhesive applications to ensure high-quality products.
+ Conduct root cause analysis of process issues and implement corrective actions.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and R&D, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Design and conduct experiments to test new process concepts and validate improvements.
+ Monitor process performance and implement control strategies to maintain optimal operating conditions.
+ Create data analysis and dashboards with insights to track and improve process performance.
+ Prepare and present technical reports, process documentation, and improvement plans to stakeholders.
+ Stay updated with the latest advancements in chemical engineering and adhesive technologies.

Requirements
+ Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
+ Proven experience in process engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
+ Strong knowledge of chemical processes, process optimization, and quality improvement methodologies.
+ Experience with adhesive processes and product quality improvement is highly desirable.
+ Six Sigma certification is preferred.
+ Project management experience is a plus.
+ Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards.
+ Proficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE) techniques.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Strong communication and presentation skills.
+ Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
+ Programming skills in Python or R are a plus.
