Job Description / Essential Elements: Print BASIC FUNCTION:Under supervision of the principal or designee, the cheerleading coach is responsible for coaching cheerleaders. The duties of this position involve a wide variety of responsibilities, including teaching cheers and dance and ensuring the safety of students. The cheerleading coach coordinates practice and develops a calendar with the certificated Cheer Advisor.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Demonstrates, teaches and coaches appropriate cheers, dance and spirit routines for high school students. Promotes safety in all cheers, dance and spirit routines at practice and athletic events. Understands and enforces district administrative regulations relating to student discipline. Understands and enforces CIF/NCS and DFAL rules and regulations pertaining to sportsmanship and behavior at practice and athletic events. Notifies the principal or designee of violations of district administrative regulations, CIF/NCS and DFAL rules and regulations. Maintains safe practice conditions for the cheerleaders. Reports to the principal or designee unsafe practice or competition conditions.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School graduate; A.A. degree in dance or physical education desired. High school or college experience in cheerleading, dance or fitness. CPR and First Aid Certification.WORKING CONDITIONS:
