Charge Nurse, 2G

Shift: PT, 3rd Shift

Unit Description:

2G is an 11-bed telemetry unit for ED overflow admissions and same day recovery surgical patients. In addition observation and ortho overflow patients.

Job Description:

Under the direction of Unit Director, Clinical House Supervisor, +/or Designee, provides supervision of workflow and staff for a designated shift in overseeing the efficient functioning of the department. Assures the provision of patient care, by addressing performance, risk management, patient, family and physician issues/concerns as appropriate. Role models caring behaviors in relationships with others.

The Charge Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness. As a clinical nurse, the charge nurse spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:

• Active Kentucky RN license

• BLS, ACLS and/or other designated unit specific certification training/requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or currently actively pursuing a BSN degree. (BSN degree must be completed within 5 years of starting program)

• Minimum of two years of Registered Nurse experience.
