Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer and Director of Systems Administration oversees and manages all financial and human resource operations, along with all data support systems of the organization. Financial responsibilities including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. Additionally, the Finance / HR Director oversees the organizations personnel policies, plans and services, including legal compliance, employee benefits, compensation, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, employment practices and procedures, and employee communications.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Three or more years’ experience in accounting and/or business management.
· Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
· Foundation and government grant writing experience.
· Demonstrated experience in management, customer service, and public relations; strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; proficient computer knowledge.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills; professionalism in both attitude and appearance.
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all socio-economic backgrounds.
Essential Functions
· Manages all functions of accounting and business operations, ensuring that legal and audit requirements are met, and that best practices and maximum efficiency are obtained.
· Designs practices, processes, and procedures for strong fiscal management.
· Oversees and provides leadership to the annual budget process including: issuing guidelines and procedures; training staff, auditing budgets, overseeing data input and preparing reports.
· Manages the annual independent audit, the preparation of financial statements and the IRS 990 tax form.
· Prepares or oversees the preparation of required audit schedules; maintains records; acts as liaison with audit team and Finance Committee.
· Implements appropriate systems and internal controls to adequately safeguard the YMCAs financial resources and to provide a solid basis for accurately reporting financial data.
· Prepares or supervises the preparation of outside reports and filings.
· Oversees the month-end and year-end closings and the preparation of statements and reports.
· Implement, manage and oversee personnel and payroll administration including maintaining records and related systems.
· Oversees implementation, training, and administration of all external data and platform-based systems.
· Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations
· Manage benefits and 401k administration, enrollment and general education
· Update and maintain HR documents and perform audit of HR files as needed
· Advise Executive Committee on the liquidity aspects of its short and long-range planning
· Determine the types and limits of coverage for Board approval
· Ensure policy limits for risks such as business interruption, fire/storm, building contents, etc. are adjusted within the policy to provide proper coverage
· Maintains an efficient and effective tracking and reporting system that supports the financial development efforts
· Establishes and manages a comprehensive process for timely and accurate grant evaluation, quality compliance, project and program fulfillment.
· Reports the sources, uses, and management of donated funds to constituents in order to preserve and enhance confidence in the organization.
· Manages and implements an organized system of communications internally and externally
