Provide therapeutic radiological physics services to the Oncology Service Line in accordance with the highest standards of practice and as required by regulatory agencies. Primary location will be Community North Cancer Center, Indianapolis, IN.

Master's Degree: Master of Science in Medical Physics or related discipline (Required)  Certifications/Licensures: (Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology) (Required)  2+ years: Consistent with American Board of Radiology Board eligibility (Required) Therapeutic Medical Physicist: Responsible for the safe and accurate delivery of therapeutic doses of radiation clinic using external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy. Participate in the development and ongoing verification of equipment specifications. Perform and participate in the development of procedures for the initial and continuing evaluation of all patients receiving therapeutic doses of radiation. Consult with practitioners and/or allied health personnel for treatment planning and dose delivery strategies to ensure accurate radiation dose delivery to patients. Address the balance between radiation doses and image quality for patients. Perform measurements to confirm regulatory and task group compliance of radiation producing and treatment planning equipment. Perform and document all aspects of brachytherapy including source calibration, treatment planning and treatment delivery. Measure and characterize medical radiation from radiation therapy treatment, brachytherapy, and simulation equipment prior to clinical utilization. Perform acceptance testing, evaluation and commissioning of equipment used for external-beam therapy, brachytherapy, simulation, treatment-planning, and radiation detection; acceptance testing and evaluation of their associated computer systems, algorithms, data, and output. Approve radiation oncology technical procedures prior to clinical use. In conjunction with the medical practitioner, participate in the development and evaluation of policies and procedures related to the appropriate therapeutic use of radiation. Review of radiation oncology dosimetry information noted in patient records. Participate in a comprehensive quality management program that monitors, evaluates, and optimizes radiation oncology processes. At the direction of the RSO, participate in the comprehensive clinical radiation safety program in radiation oncology. Direct the radiation oncology physics program to include the technical direction of staff responsible for treatment planning, machine maintenance and repair and other physics support staff. Provide consultation on patient or personnel radiation dose and associated risks. Provide radiation oncology physics and radiation dosimetry training for medical practitioners and other health-care providers. Assess and evaluate shielding designed protect patients, workers, and the public from radiation produced from imaging or therapy equipment. Use imaging procedures as they pertain to the simulation, treatment planning and treatment delivery in therapeutic radiologic procedures. Involved in informatics development and direction. Apply other medical applications of physics as appropriate safely carry out therapeutic radiologic procedures.
