Currently recruiting a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas to provide care to Active Duty heroes, their families, and retirees at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC). Schedule will not exceed 80 hours within a 2-week pay period. Services will be required on Federal holidays.
DUTIES OF THE CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA):
The contract Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) shall perform essentially the same duties as those required of any government CRNA or similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Such duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Provide only the CRNA services for which the WBAMC commander has granted privileges. Provide pre-operative evaluations and preparation of the patient. Provide regional anesthesia to include spinal, epidural, bier block, axillary block, interscalene block, and other regional blocks.Provide monitoring of patient reactions to anesthesia and surgery to include managing fluid therapy and shall respond to patient responses with appropriate anesthesia care. Provide pain intervention care or respond to emergency situations in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit or other areas of the Medical Treatment Facility as needed. Provide post-operative evaluations of the patients. Check anesthesia equipment for function before proceeding with an anesthetic;provide limited end-user maintenance of anesthesia equipment;and ensure cleanliness of anesthesia equipment.Contract CRNA shall consult with an anesthesiologist or attending physician for any American Society of Anesthesia (ASA) physical classification of III or greater regarding patient situations of adverse reactions necessitating non-delegated medical decisions and taking appropriate actions as required or directed. Respond to cardiopulmonary resuscitation calls, trauma calls in the ER, and intubation requests made throughout the facility to include the ICU or ER. Complete all required documentation utilizing facility information systems as required and shall place his/her name stamp on all forms and documentation requiring his/her signature. Serve as adjunct clinical instructor/faculty member in the Phase II United States Army Nurse Anesthesia Program. Participate in Anesthesia Service Quality Improvement/Assurance programs as time and workload permit and adhere to safety procedures and regulations at all times. Respect and maintain the basic rights of patients, demonstrating concern for personal dignity and human relationships.The Contractor shall advise the chief of the department, where contracted services are being provided, of any problems encountered or anticipated in connection with meeting the needs of patients treated. Continuing problems of any nature shall be reported by the Contractor in writing to the COR. Refer all requests for patient/hospital information that cannot be handled by the clinic personnel to the Patient Administration Division (PAD). After normal duty hours, requests should be referred to the Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) or appropriate authorized personnel. Neither the Contractor nor the contract provider shall release medical information without prior coordination with the PAD/AOD.Adhere to the Center for Disease Control guidelines always concerning universal precautions and the MTF Infection Control Program while providing services under this contract. Support the facility s medical teaching program by actively providing guidance and assistance to any student nurse anesthetists, residents, and/or medical students assigned to or rotating through the department where the provider is performing contracted services. Perform all duties in such a manner that they meet all Joint Commission standards.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA):
***MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE APRN LICENSE FROM TEXAS***
Be a graduate of an accredited Master or Doctorate of Science in Nursing Anesthesia Program. Possess current board certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).Contract provider shall possess a current unrestricted license to practice as a licensed registered nurse and as an advance practice nurse in the State of Texas (10 USC 1094). Be able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine with the MTF Credentials Committee. Possess a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration/Certificate as appropriate. If a supervising physician is required for the DEA number application, it is the Contractor s responsibility to provide a supervising physician. Meet all licensing/certification requirements to perform as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.Life Support Certification Requirements. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required by all providers.Foreign medical graduate physicians shall possess a valid certificate from the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates.Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Experience. Possess a minimum of one year of experience actively practicing as a full-time certified registered nurse anesthetist during the last year which enables him/her to perform the specific tasks listed for their specialty. Time spent as an intern or resident does not count towards experience as an independent provider.Possess and maintain at all times, at Contractor expense, current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). BLS is not the same as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted.Must be a U.S. Citizen (for access to Government computer systems)
