Certified Phlebotomy Technician I - Float Pool
Description As a team member of the Phlebotomy Float Pool, you will be assigned to assist various ambulatory sites, such as Ronald Reagan Hospital and Santa Monica Hospital. Duties include: *Perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients for all ages *Triage all lab samples and requests after verification of appropriate information *Centrifuge, measure and aliquot and/or preserve *Enter and verify patient and test info into computer *Generate computer labels for specimens and deliver to appropriate areas *Prepare samples for transport to referral labs or storage *Prepare written reports to document phlebotomy draws, test results, test added, or deleted/rejected specimens *Prepare batch or outside lab referral specimens' documentation *Perform inventory count *Assist in monitoring workflow and schedules Shift hours include: *4:00am-12:30pm *12:30-9:00pm *8:30pm-5:00am This is a per diem position and you may not necessarily be assigned to work the entire shift. Rather, you will be assigned to work based on operational needs with rotating weekends and holidays. Completion of probationary period in conjunction with adequate years of experience may result in a career ladder to CPT II - Per Diem position. May convert to career. Salary Range: $29.47 - $29.47/hour Qualifications * Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I). * High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET). * Ability to work in various locations (e.g. 200 Med Plaza, 100 Med Plaza, Santa Monica Hospital and all Med Plaza satellite draw stations). * Skill in using a computer and printer. * Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 20lbs. of equipment/supplies on a regular basis. * Ability to reach overhead, bend downward and forward, and alternate between sitting or standing. * Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as data entry. * Ability to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed. * Previous experience performing specimen processing in an acute care facility, preferred. * Previous experience using EPIC, preferred.
