Certified Patient Care Technician
JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of a Nurse Leader and the direction of the Registered Nurse the Certified Patient Care Tech is responsible for performing specific duties that support patient care which includes direct and indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing a safe and efficient care environment This position performs selected interventions and activities that contribute to providing comprehensive care to patients in accordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards policies and procedures In addition along with the care team this position is responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience This role performs in a high activity work environment with multiple priorities and necessitates flexibility in schedulingThis role requires unitMinimum Requirements Educationmiddot Successfully completed an Accredited Patient Care TechnicianAssistant CPCTA OR Emergency Medical Technician EMT OR Medical Assistant CMA Training Course recognized by the American Association of Medical Assistants AAMAMust participate in and successfully complete HHC approved PCT Preceptor training within days of hire or transferExperienceAt least one year of acute care nursing assistant experience requiredAbility to perform the requirements of the Patient Care Tech jobLicensure Certification RegistrationMust have at time of hire and maintain thereafter at least one of the following CertificationsCertified Patient Care TechnicianAssistant CPCTA Certified Emergency Medical Technician EMTCertified Medical Assistant CMAHas mastered the competencies required for preceptingCertified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association AHA obtained within Months days of hire date or job transfer dateLanguage SkillsMust be able to read and understand oral and written instructions and effectively communicate information in EnglishKnowledge Skills and Ability Requirements Basic cardiac life supportEPIC experienceBasic math skillsBasic computer skillsStrong demonstrated ability to act as a formal preceptor during taught curriculum and as part of the onboarding process for new Patient Care Techs utilizing the competencies outlined in the PCT Preceptor ChecklistStrong ability to represent work unit as a member of an ongoing workgroup Must be able to act as a role model and unit expert for initiatives training questions etc related to the workgrouprsquos area of specialization for example skin falls geriatrics general safety governanceStrong demonstrated ability to use skillful communication with members of the
