**Position Highlights**
Performs initial assessment of residents obtaining general and dietary information to individualize their dietary care plans.
Complete MDS assessment as scheduled and attends weekly care conferences.
Monitors residents weight variances and follows up to identify cause and subsequent changes in dietary care plans to maintain optimal nutritional health.
Maintains open communication with residents and responds appropriately to resident concerns, requests, and or complaints.
Responsible to work with Food and Nutrition Manager(FNS) to grow and develop FNS staff through routine training.
Will work closely with Registered Dietitian and Food and Nutrition Services Manager

**A Brief Overview**
Organize, promote, direct and evaluate the Nutrition Service department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing nursing facilities. Responsible for purchasing and maintaining inventory of necessary foods and supplies. Supervises food production. Orientates employees to the department. Responsible for staff scheduling to meet productivity within the department and to ensure sufficient staff with the appropriate competencies to carry out department functions.
**What you will do**
+ Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.
+ Orders and receives all department food materials and supplies following the purchasing guidelines; maintains appropriate levels of food materials and supplies to carry out planned department menus/functions.
+ Monitors cleaning and sanitation of food production work areas to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
+ Assumes authority, responsibility and accountability of food preparation and ensures that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policy.
+ Participates in facility surveys and inspections.
+ Responsible for staff scheduling to meet productivity within the department and to ensure sufficient staff with the appropriate competencies to carry out department functions.
+ Follows established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies and to include fire protection/prevention and infection control.
+ Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
**Essential Qualifications**

**Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:**
+ High School or GED Equivalent
+ ServSafe Certificate - National Restaurant Association or enrolled in the course within 12 months of hire date. Upon Hire and
+ Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP) - Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals within 2 Years
+ One year of food service
