We are currently advertising for a combined role of ESL Teacher and Centre Exams Manager (CEM). The CEM is responsible for managing all aspects of Cambridge English exams at EF Cape Town, ensuring compliance with Cambridge regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of security and professionalism. The CEM acts as the key contact between EF Cape Town and Cambridge, overseeing exam administration from registration to results distribution. In addition to exam-related responsibilities, the CEM also undertakes various administrative duties within the Academic Department to support the smooth operation of EF Cape Town. ESL Teacher: Role & ResponsibilitiesTeach scheduled contact hours as requested by the Academic OfficeProvide high quality classes using our blended learning programPrepare materials and resources relevant to your classes, including a comprehensive syllabus for special interest classes, handouts, quizzes, tests, and assignments as needed for each courseComplete all required administration to a high standard and timely mannerHelp students with queries they may have and communicate this with the appropriate departmentActively participate in teacher meetings and all staff development activitiesActively participate in any required observations and feedback sessions, training, development meetings, and informational meetingsDevelop and use supplementary material within EF guidelines to support learning needs and objectivesLiaise, support and collaborate with all staff tasked with providing study feedback and support to studentsCentre Exams Manager: Role and ResponsibilitiesBefore the Exam Day: Submit all candidate entries by the required deadlines.Receive and check all exam materials, ensuring secure storage at all times.Organize and train the exams team, including supervisors, invigilators, and speaking examiners, ensuring backup personnel are available.Arrange appropriate exam venues and equipment.Communicate essential exam details to candidates and partner schools.On the Exam Day: Be on standby to address any last-minute issues.After the Exam Day: Return all exam materials securely within the required timeframe.Ensure timely distribution of results and certificates, responding promptly to any queries from candidates.Ongoing Responsibilities: Stay updated on all Cambridge exam regulations and share relevant updates with colleagues.Maintain a network of trained Speaking Examiners and Team Leaders, ensuring compliance with Cambridge guidelines.Ensure all Cambridge invoices are paid within 28 days.Provide annual training sessions for invigilators and supervisors.Notify Cambridge of any changes to centre details (e.g., CEM change, postal address update, ownership change) via the required Change of Centre Details Request Form.Academic Staff Member: Role and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to exam-related duties, the CEM plays a vital role in supporting the Academic Department by assisting with general administrative tasks, including but not limited to:Assisting with scheduling and teacher support.Managing academic documentation and reports.Supporting student services related to exams and academic progress.Assisting the Director of Studies and Head Teacher with academic operations as needed.Qualifications Requirements:Bachelors Degree120 Hour TEFL Certificate with 1-3 years of teaching experienceCELTA/CertTESOL preferredSkills Requirements:Experience in exam administration, education management, or a similar role.Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general administrative tools.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.Experience with Cambridge English exams or similar standardized testing is an advantage.Working Conditions:This is a full-time position based at EF Cape Town.Some flexibility in working hours may be required during exam periods.The role requires handling confidential materials and ensuring compliance with strict exam regulations.This role is essential to maintaining EF Cape Town’s reputation as a high-quality Cambridge exam centre while also contributing to the efficiency of the Academic Department.
