Position Summary:

Sovah Martinsville is seeking a full-time Central Sterile Processing Technician to collect, decontaminate, store, and distribute all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.

Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment by processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with an emphasis on safety.Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient's needs.Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological, and mechanical in
dictators to verify sterility by manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.Enters patient charges and orders into the computer system.Able to problem solve to enhance the effectiveness of teamwork.Conducts biological monitoring and interprets results.Possess knowledge of the operations of the steam and ETO sterilizers.Washes and decontaminates instruments and equipment from units throughout the hospital.Transports instruments and supplies to units.
Removes equipment and supplies not in use; cleans equipment and returns to the appropriate location for storage.Utilizes standard precautions for infection control; i.e. hand-washing, and body substance isolation.Drag Edit Delete
Minimum Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Certification as a registered central service technician is required within one year of employment.Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients and./or equipment, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods. May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. May require frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.Requires ability to read and write legibly and carry out directions promptly and accurately. Must exhibit effective communication skills and interpersonal skills. Requires the ability to respond quickly and calmly under stressful or emergencies.
