Job Description

How You’ll Add Value

The Driver will be responsible for transporting biological and production materials (research samples, products, etc) while maintaining appropriate temperatures, driving safely and legally to and from designated locations, verifying equipment on shipping papers, maintaining record of job according to state and federal regulations, and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections while applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations.

What You’ll Do

Safe and legal operation of a company’s commercial motor vehicles Responsible for safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination. Comply with all federal DOT/FMCSA (Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), and state and local regulations for the safe operation of commercial vehicles. Operate controls for loading and unloading of equipment. Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to truck operations and equipment movements. Inspect the truck for defects and safe operating conditions prior, during, and after trips. Submit reports on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip. Check transportation documentation to determine the nature of relocation project and verify for accuracy. Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills maneuvering commercial vehicles at varying speeds in difficult situations. such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, and road construction. This includes, but is not limited to going forward, backing up, going around corners, and maneuvering around tight areas. Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment. Report any delays due to mechanical failures, weather, traffic or other emergencies. Maintain documentation required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver’s record of duty status, mileage records, inspections, Bill of Ladings, Freezer Relocation Logs and others required by law. Ensuring samplesHandle materials in a manner that maintains required temperatures (+30oC to -196oC) per the project definition and SOPs, and transferring to backups in the event of a failure. Perform all duties according to company policies and procedures, including following and practicing policies under the company’s QMS. Will be required to work in Azenta facilities on days that no driving tasks are required.

What You Will Bring

Must possess a valid commercial class A or B driver’s license. with hazmat endorsement.Must possess a manual transmission endorsement.Experience driving in all weather conditions and regions, including mountain passes with manual transmission use.Must maintain a clean driving record and report to the Transportation Operations Supervisor if any citations are received as soon as possible of the incident.Must possess and keep current a valid Medical Certification.Must have previous commercial driving experience or have attended and graduated from an accredited commercial driving school.Must have knowledge of DOT/FMCSA requirements for hours of service, safety, inspection and maintenance.Must pass an FMCSA Drug and Alcohol pre-employment test and submit to random testing as required by DOT/FMCSA.Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and monitoring systems.Must have knowledge of the Department of Transportation and all applicable governing agencies' requirements for safety, inspection and maintenance.Have working knowledge of vehicle equipment and monitoring systems, i.e., El Pro, Thermo King, and Cummins Generators.HAZMAT endorsement preferred
