Overview ***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP*** Under the direction of the Community Services Director and or applicable Manager, the Catholic Chaplain is responsible for the denominational needs of base Catholics and their loved ones. While the Catholic Chaplain has a duty to respond to the denominational needs of the Catholic community, both Chaplains are there for all the residents and visitors on base, irrespective of denomination, or tradition. This availability to all is crucial to the Christian and Integrated nature of the base. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Participate in delivering and arranging for appropriate priestly care to residents, their loved ones and staff in specific areas of the institution or to particular faith groups as assigned. Actively participate in the delivery of pastoral care. Respond to requests for pastoral care in a timely manner. Participate in the offering of worship opportunities. Participate in the meeting ritual and sacramental needs. Support an interdisciplinary approach to priestly care. Participate in team meetings and rounds. Serve on institutional committees as appointed. Promote an interdisciplinary approach to priestly care among all clergy. Provides safe work environments for employees, visitors, and customers. Joint responsibility along with the Protestant Chaplain for the coordinating and planning of Assemblies throughout the year, is a major part of the work of the Catholic Chaplain. Participate in maintenance of proper administrative procedures for the department in accordance with institutional policy. Assist in the coordination of clergy and priestly visitors from the religious community. Keep records of priestly activity to communicate with other members of the department and report to department/institution. Participate in the department’s plan for continuous quality improvement. Contribute to the wider community through publication, teaching, and research. Author and co-author materials relevant to spiritual care and catholic education. Participate in teaching/lecturing on a regular or basis. Participate in research and study relevant to the field. Participate in programs and administrative activities of the institution. Participate in monthly staff meetings. Participate in regular professional development activities and supervision. Provides oversight of data administration with subordinate activities to include timely and accurate submission of reports, CDRLS and required documentation. Communicates professionally, both orally and in writing with Site personal, as needed, to relay information. Oversees the establishment of programs to meet normal and contingency mission requirements. Directly monitors and controls programs as needed. Performs other duties as required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Bachelors Degree in Seminary studies from an American accredited university, or equivalent, is required. Ordained priest in good standing. Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) Must be a U.S. Citizen Experience: Five (5) years’ experience as a priest in a multi-discipline environment comparable to that offered under this contract. Experience in military environment desired. Skills: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and people resources. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Knowledgeable of how to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language with proficiency. Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork. Must exercise discretion and good sound judgment. Must have high level of proficiency in the use of MS Office and/or other related applications. Supervisory/Budget Responsibilities: Assisting the Community Services Director in managing budget for Religious Services Working Conditions: Duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures; up to 100F degrees in the summer months. Potential exposure to chemical or biological agents could exist. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Physical Requirements: Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
