ResponsibilitiesUnder broad supervision, responsible for underwriting risks in a book of business. Works within limited authority on assignments utilizing underwriting policies and guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws and regulations.
Skill and knowledge of broker/agency management and relationship buildingExpected to maintain and develop broker relationships Track record of uncovering, researching and putting together new product line opportunities by applying appropriate underwriting strategies and standards to qualify risk acceptability.Ability to work effectively and within an assigned level of underwriting authority.Experience planning, orchestrating, and leading highly effective broker meetings.Negotiates standard coverage issues, closes sale, and gauges customer satisfactionAbility to meet or exceed designated LOB production metricsStrong technical knowledge regarding underwriting, coverage and pricing within a particular product lineProven ability to build and maintain strong productive relationships with individual brokersProvide timely, courteous and efficient service to all internal and external clientsAbility to identify and call appropriate attention to broker performance issuesUnderstanding of pricing and risk selection criteriaPerform other duties as assigned Qualifications A minimum of 3 years relevant industry experienceResourceful, analytical, with the ability to execute tasks through to resolutionStrong oral/written communication skills with a positive attitudeDetail-oriented with initiative and ability to work in fast-paced team environmentA focus on delivering exceptional customer serviceExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamHigh sense of urgency and need to identify and resolve issuesAbility to travel, as neededComputer literate including use of Word, Excel and various project management toolsCollege degree or equivalent work experience with demonstrated involvement in insurance industry education.
