Accounting Assistant I

The Cash Receipt Clerk for Medicaid will manage and process incoming payments for Medicaid-related services, ensuring accurate and timely posting of cash receipts into the system. The role involves reconciling payments, assisting with billing inquiries, and maintaining financial records related to Medicaid programs. This position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and a solid understanding of financial procedures and Medicaid processes.

Support mission-critical initiatives and enable the growth of our business as a Accounting Assistant I at GDIT. Working on the Finance team, you’ll become an integral part of how GDIT is able to ensure the safety and security of our nation.

Our work depends on Accounting Assistant I joining our team to ensure that all Medicaid-related payments, whether from clients, insurance providers, or other sources, are processed and recorded accurately and on time. This is essential for maintaining proper cash flow, which is crucial for sustaining the organization’s ability to deliver services. Timely posting of payments ensures there are no delays in the Medicaid services provided to beneficiaries. If payments are mishandled or not recorded correctly, it could delay the funding needed to continue providing healthcare services.

HOW AN ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT I WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
● Performs routine tasks in one or more functional areas of Accounting or Financial Services. Medicaid payments are often directly tied to healthcare providers' ability to offer services. Ensuring these payments are processed and received correctly ensures providers can continue delivering care without interruption, especially for low-income individuals who rely on Medicaid. By handling payment discrepancies efficiently, the clerk ensures that billing errors are corrected quickly, preventing confusion and frustration for Medicaid clients and healthcare providers. Through the accurate processing and reporting of cash receipts, the clerk contributes to transparency and accountability in Medicaid operations. This fosters public trust and ensures the program’s long-term viability.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: High School Diploma/GED
● Required Experience: 0+ years of related experience
● Security Clearance Level: n/a
● Required Skills and Abilities: Attention to detail, knowledge of Medicaid Billing and Payment systems. Reconciliation skills, time management, and confidentiality.
● Preferred Skills: Experience with Medicaid Management Systems (MMIS), basic accounting knowledge, customer service experience, and problem-solving skills.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $16.35 - $22.11. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
