LOCATION: San Luis, AZ

STATUS: PT/20-28hrs/wk (Flex schedule may be utilized to meet the needs of the community)

QUALIFICATIONS:

HS Diploma or equivalent required Minimum 2 years case management experience strongly preferred Must be at least 21 years of age. Bilingual English/Spanish required Experience working with clients in crisis and the strong ability to effectively utilize stabilization techniques that include trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and de-escalation techniques. Knowledge of community resources, particularly housing for low-income individuals, available in the Yuma County service area. Excellent knowledge of and ability to use current Microsoft software computer programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher, as well as e-mail, Adobe Acrobat and the internet Excellent interpersonal, telephone and communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of consumers, staff, and community partners. Ability to be professional and courteous at all times Excellent detail, organization, and file management skills Demonstrated dependability, maturity, and initiative; must be able to maintain program/guest/agency confidentiality and treat everyone with dignity and respect. Ability to work alone and as a part of a team. Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule, address multiple projects in a timely manner and take projects from beginning through completion Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances Knowledge of the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)/Wellsky preferred Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and pass a motor vehicle record check. Must successfully pass Defensive Driving courses provided by The Salvation Army Reliable transportation. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Learn requirements of Salvation Army program and services Prepare and maintain food pantry inventory Purchase items for food pantry and facilitate pickup of food including purchases and donations. Prepare and distribute food boxes while maintaining the cleanliness of the food pantry and appropriate food handling guidelines Answer incoming calls and emails as well as respond to voicemail messages Engage with community partners to maximize community partnerships and resources. Update and maintain a service and referral information list of community partners within Yuma County working to build and expand relationships with these agencies and to provide warm handoffs with referrals. Conduct initial assessment and intake to determine client’s specific needs and work with Family Services Coordinator to get applications approved and input into Wellsky. Maintain weekly contact with clients building relationships and being present in the event they are ready to engage towards stable housing, employment, education, or other economic and social self-support; and while they are on the path towards sustainability. Keep local statistics and track, analyze, and input data relevant for county, donor, and internal stakeholders. Assist with the recruitment and training of volunteers as assigned. Work as a bridge between social service programs and Corps programs and facilitate access to Salvation Army Bible Studies and Prayer Meetings. Work through the Corps Officers to provide access to pastoral care as requested. Assist with seasonal programing to include but not limited to Angel Tree Program and Summer Camp. Assist with Seasonal Bell Ringing including distribution and collection of supplies and assisting with scheduling and training of volunteers as well as seasonal bell ringers. Responsible to assist with the collection of kettles and meet with store managers to work out details for scheduling, special needs, storage, etc. as needed and assigned. Perform additional duties as directed by the Family Social Services Coordinator and Corps Officer as related to the position of Caseworker.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. Ability to work in extremely hot summer weather and moderately cold temps in the winter. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
