We are growing and are looking for an Environmental Planner/Stack Testing Coordinator to join our Carlin Environmental team. The ideal candidate would be responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of stack testing for the Nevada Gold Mines LLC – Carlin Complex. Ensures that all stakeholders are aligned on schedules, plans, roles and responsibilities. Ensures stack testing is conducted according to all applicable State and Federal regulations and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Stack Test Program Planning:
Develop annual testing calendar that takes into account regulatory time frames (testing windows, protocol submittals, final report submittals, and other relevant requisite notifications), operational maintenance schedules, and contractor availability. Prepare preliminary cost estimates for all elements of the annual testing program to ensure operations budgets the program accordingly The yearly calendar is established in coordination with operations during the third quarter of the prior year for use in annual budget development
Stack Test Execution:
Prepare RFPs to solicit bids for individual stack tests and select appropriate contractor Prepare stack testing contractor requisitions and POs Prepare requisitions and POs for third party lab analysis of feed samples Manage stack testing contractors (onboarding, safety and setup, audits) Schedule and coordinate stack test planning meetings between process operations, environmental specialists and stack testing contractors Update Stack Test Preparedness sheet for review and approval during each test planning meeting: full alignment of schedule with all stakeholders, equipment/personnel needs are satisfied, and roles and responsibilities are fully established.
Other Duties:
Maintain/update the Stack Test Guidebook in consultation with Specialists/Engineers Coordinate diagnostic/spot check testing, as needed Responsible for periodic, after hours-on-call response to environmental incidents, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science is preferred, or commensurate years of applicable industry experience At least one (1) to two (2) years direct experience in environmental field is preferred Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others required Ability to identify and implement opportunities for improvement required General understanding of mining operations - preferred Ability and willingness to work outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions required Ability to lift objects up to 40 lbs. required Ability to drive results and ensure completion of time sensitive deadlines required
Working Environment:
Position is even split of office and field-based with an expectation for field interactions and lineout attendance Estimated 50% office, 50% field, depending on time of year Non-standard work hours anticipated for some stack test execution
Location & Travel:
Position is located at the Nevada Gold Mines LLC – Carlin Complex. Office location is at the Goldstrike Administration Office. Travel to the office location is approximately 60 minutes from Elko, NV. Additional travel is required to perform work on the Gold Quarry side of the property.
