Career Mobile Repair Technician/Driver

Trinity Rail is hiring a Career Mobile Repair Technician at our Shell Rock, IA MRU plant.

What you'll do:

Conducts railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance. Performs repairs as necessary while always using current repair procedures. Meets the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver an exceptional customer experience. Ensures all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete. Has the ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.  Actively participates in safety assessments and equipment inspections.  Ability to work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required to perform work. Able to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits. Follows all safety rules and practices.  May be involved in safety committees or initiatives. May be required to have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.  Understand and complete all basic required on-board training in regard to safety and quality. Performs other duties as assigned. 

What you'll need: 

 Minimum of 1.5 years’ experience in railcar maintenance or manufacturing or proficient in one or more of the following disciplines:   Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster or other qualifications as applicable.                    Ability to learn all major railcar components and basic functions.     Performs outlined work under supervision of site or crew leader.  Ability to understand Field Manual of the AAR Interchange rules.        Ability to use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required.                      Basic understanding of how to read engineered drawings.            May be required to mentor/train lower-level technicians. Will be required to operate and maintain a Trinity Rail Mobile Repair Truck, with some trucks requiring a DOT regulated driver. Must meet DOT requirements to operate CMVs less than 26k GVWR.        Possess a current valid driver’s license and good driving record.
