This is a permanent, calendar year, part time (21 hours per week) position.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Professional and Community Development, and through individual appointments, class visits, workshops, and programs, use best practices to prepare graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to succeed in their academic programs and in the workforce by helping them engage in professional skill building and career exploration, planning, and application by offering career coaching, and current market information with respect to academic and career advancement, including on obtaining internships, jobs, and fellowships, CV/resume writing, LinkedIn optimization, and interviewing. Develop and draft resource materials including guides and templates for job application materials for positions including faculty, fellowships, alt-ac, industry, non-profit, and government positions. Assist the Associate Director for Professional and Community Development with communications with stakeholders, updating and maintaining web pages, and developing and leading career and professional development workshops and programs, including alumni and industry panel programs. Identify, conduct outreach, and engage potential employers and their recruiters and talent acquisition specialists. Organize programs, information sessions, panels, classroom visits, and webinars with employer representatives to provide graduate students with current knowledge of career requirements and opportunities. Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide virtual and face-to-face individual and group career advising through appointments, classroom visits, and other group presentations.

Educate and help students at all stages and in all functions of the career advancement process, including career exploration, experience acquisition, resume and application material development, industry, and employer research, interviewing, networking, and job/internship/volunteer/experience search strategies.

Design, develop, market, and present career development programming to students in group settings and generally support the office’s programming efforts.

Track career and professional development data including appointments, programs, and employer contacts.

Infuse diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into all aspects of work.

Work with faculty, staff, and employers to collect, market, and deliver industry specific information connecting graduate students with careers.

Partner with employers and alumni regarding industry related information and current economic and workforce development and impart information to students.

Seek new ways to reach employers, faculty, and students to encourage participation at events.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work occasional evening hours for appointments and programs.

Perform additional duties as requested.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers and printers, word processing, spreadsheet software. Digital platforms.

Required Qualifications REQUIRED:

1. Master’s degree.

2. Minimum of one year of career advising and/or career coaching experience.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of career development principles.

4. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain employer and community relationships.

5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

6. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

7. Demonstrated computer and web-based platform skills (including career database and/or online teaching platforms, video communication and social media platforms, website editing and maintenance).

8. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies.

9. Demonstrated ability to create programming or workshops.

10. Demonstrated experience and dedication to integrating issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice into work.

11. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED:

1. Ph.D.
