Shift : Days, 8:30am - 5pm, Monday -Friday

The role you’ll contribute:

The Cardiovascular Assistant works under supervision of the Nurse or Invasive Technologist, assisting in performing specific duties and activities for patients of all age groups. This includes transportation, assisting with positioning, and patient preparation for procedures as required. Responsible for environmental needs in the department and acting as a runner. Adheres to the Advent Health Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Cleans between cases, monitor terminal cleans (performs, if necessary), cleans electronic equipment in room(s). Communicates with EVS on following issues: soiled utility room, mops, supplies, doctors’ lounge and waiting room. Removes and replaces “black boxes” and “sharp boxes” as dated or used.

• Ensures safe transport, transfer and positioning of patients utilizing good body mechanics. Maintains patient privacy and dignity at all times. Adheres to policies related to patient identification and confidentiality.

• Participates in the preparation of the patient for procedures as directed by Nurse or Invasive Technologist. Cooperates as part of the multidisciplinary team by communicating pertinent patient information to the Nurse or Invasive Technologist and completing delegated duties as directed.

• Ensures appropriate disposition of supplies, labs and specimens. May remove medications from the pneumatic tube system for immediate delivery to the Nurse or Invasive Technologist or for securing purposes in the medication room. Completes duties within assigned timeframes.

• Efficient and organized, assists team with safe and appropriate turnovers. Readily available to perform all duties.

• Promotes a safe environment. Takes appropriate action in emergency situations, utilizes knowledge and awareness to control hazards which may endanger patients, visitors and employees, identifies and reports environmental concerns to the management team. Ensures adherence to appropriate regulatory standards and Advent Health policies and procedures.

• Follows CDC isolation guidelines, properly uses PPE, performs hand washing according to policy and enforces safety regulations. Strictly adheres to all infection control practices.

• Supports the customer and employee satisfaction activities of the organization. Maintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff

• Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Adheres to all policies and procedures.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

REQUIRED:

• Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

PREFERRED:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting

• Patient Care Tech experience
