Sentara Healthcare is currently recruiting for a Cardiovascular Anesthesia Tech to work at the Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Norfolk General Hospital

Full Time: Rotating Shift

Hours: Rotating, varies between 6a-230p, 7a-330p, and 11a-7p.

QUALIFICATIONS:

College degree in a science related field or graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technology program required.

The cardiothoracic operating room is part of the surgical services team that treat open-heart (cardiothoracic) patients.  We are made up of five operating rooms which includes a hybrid OR.  We handle 8+ OR cases daily.

This role supports the anesthesia team that will support Cardiac OR and the Cath/EP Labs. This team works 8hr shifts – 7am to 3pm or 11am to 7pm with some call required.

At Sentara Heart Hospital, patients receive comprehensive cardiac services - from diagnostics to open heart surgery and transplants - at one location. This state-of-the-art hospital features all-private rooms, including 112 inpatient beds and 45 pre-/post procedural rooms for patients undergoing interventional cardiac procedures.

 

The Cardiac OR is made of 5 operating rooms which include a hybrid OR.   We handle 8+ OR cases daily. Cardiovascular Anesthesia Tech will work with as a part of a multi-disciplinary team of Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Registered Nurses, Surgical Assistants, Perfusionists, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants that perform open heart and thoracic surgical procedures.

 

Will prepare the operating room for procedure.  Assists with pre-operative care and patient transport. 

 

Monitors patients’ EKG and invasive hemodynamic pressures during cardiac and general surgical procedures.

 

Performs cardiac outputs, special invasive pressures, as well as various clinical pathological tests, such as blood gas analysis, electrolytes, blood clotting times, proficient in the performance of intra-aortic balloon pumping, and intraoperative autologous transfusion.

 

Performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment specific to the department.

 

Provides didactic and clerical training to employees and CVT students. Utilizes the Gravitational platelet system. 

 

Education: Bachelor's Level Degree - NATURAL SCIENCE (such as biology, chemistry, microbiology, physics) OR Trade School Graduate - CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGY

 

Laboratory – Cardiac Rehab experience

 

Required: Basic Life Support

 

Service Orientation training will be provided.
