Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Cardiopulmonary Rehab Exercise Specialist.

As a Cardiopulmonary Rehab Exercise Specialist at MercyOne, you will plan, coordinate, implement and monitor Cardiac/Pulmonary and Vascular Rehabilitation programs for adult patients. Utilize the nursing assessment process in conjunction with program protocols in performance of patient evaluations and monitoring of patient participation and tolerance for rehabilitative services. Perform patient teaching and education activities; supervise and direct established exercise routines in coordination with nursing units, ancillary departments and physician's orders

Assist in all Phases of patients (inpatient, outpatient and maintenance). Identifies actual and potential problems and develops and implements the plan of care for the patient specific to the age of the patient population identified within the department/unit scope of service in accordance with the department/unit standards.Cares for patients during cardiac/pulmonary exercise programs; monitoring vital signs, preparing patients for and assisting patients in exercises and associated activities with the multidisciplined team. Updates and revises the plan of care on an ongoing basis.Provides concurrent, accurate, and legible documentation on the medical record consistent with hospital policies.Implements interventions and adapts care based on changes in patient condition, consultation with other professionals, and patient/family needs.Instructs patients and families in safety precautions, limitations, basic anatomy and physiology of pulmonary-cardiovascular systems and conduct of home and self-monitoring programs. Requests direction or assistance from ancillary team members (e.g., Nutritional Services, Diabetic Education, Pharmacy, etc.) in the presence of physical or medical limitations interfering with the patient's ability to participate within established protocol.Identifies actual and potential risks and initiates appropriate action to minimize or prevent situations and evaluates the outcome.

Schedule:

Full TimeDays M-W-F 8am-5pm, T-TH 8am-3:30pm

General Requirements:

12 months relevant experience with diseased and well population or internship in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation preferred.Basic Life Support (BCLS).Able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team.Maintains a high level of professionalism, which positively promotes the image of MercyOne Medical Center.Actively participates and represents MercyOne Medical Center in professional and community organizations.

Education:

Graduate (BS degree) from approved exercise physiology/exercise science/kinesiology program at the University or college level or a Graduate degree in fitness.
