Position Summary:
The Carbon Capture and Sequestration Technology Manager is a salaried, exempt-level position based in Decatur Illinois.
Reporting to the Global Director of Utilities Technology Center, this role is responsible for analyzing operational failure/underperformance, identifying efficiency opportunities, and aligning solutions for the ADM Carbon Sequestration facility. Additionally, this individual will lead related system expansion, project management efforts, and provide overall system technology support.
Essential Job Functions:Drive compliance with ADM safety, health, quality, and environmental programs and policiesFoster/execute process optimization improvements contributing to our run rate goals and objectivesDrive achievement of ADM (Strive 35) sustainability goals (energy/carbon improvements)Engage/research/develop, sequestration technologies and resources for targeted deployment, that improve efficiency and increase optimizationSupport plant operations team in their execution efforts related to capture and storage operations including but not limited to injection well permit compliance sampling and reporting activities and subsurface operations maintenance requirementsProvide subject matter expertise and manage capital projects related to improvements and expansion of the system including equipment selection, design review processes, vendor evaluation and related contractor managementCoordinate and collaborate with multiple disciplines and various levels of management within Operations (Plant, Reliability, Utilities, EHS, Project Management, Automation) and non-Operations stakeholders (Commercial, Tax, Finance, Accounting, Government Affairs)Critical Knowledge:B.S. degree in Engineering, concentration in Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical or equivalentMaster’s degree (either MBA or Engineering) is a plus10+ years of experience with high pressure compression systems, gas processing equipment and operations, drilling/completion/workover operations, deep-well maintenance, well monitoring equipment (downhole gauges, surface data acquisition, seismic monitoring equipment, DTS/DAS)5+ years of project management experience required (PMP certification is a plus)Well Control certification required (or ability to obtain)Knowledge of federal Class VI underground injection well program requirements and geotechnical concepts sufficient to support analysis and interpretation requisite monitoring dataFinancial valuation experience rationalizing and evaluating capital investmentsFamiliarity with technical aspects of carbon sequestration system construction and operationsExperience in ADM PE, FEL, and WAVE systems is a plusFamiliarity with relevant energy, environmental, and tax regulations and related subsidies for carbon markets as well as understanding of California LCFS carbon creditsCritical Skills:Personally committed to working safely and maintaining a safe working environmentContinuous process improvement mindset driving best practices and reliabilityExcellent written/verbal communication and positive interpersonal skillsTask oriented and self-motivated, able to function without direct supervisionWork effectively as part of team or independentlyWell-developed independent judgment and problem solvingExcellent organizational skills, able to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasksAbility to work collaboratively with people at all levels of an organizationCritical Abilities:History of developing/driving compliance with SOP’s, safe work practices and jurisdictional codesDemonstrated ability to manage capital projectsDemonstrated ability to recognize, assess, and provide opportunities for efficiency and optimizationOvernight travel is not anticipatedExcited about this role but don’t meet every requirement listed?
