Carbon and Renewable Regulatory Assurance - Analyst

Position Summary: The Compliance Analyst/Sr. Analyst is in the Strategy and Business Development – Renewable and Low Carbon Fuels (R&LC) organization, specifically in the Carbon and Renewable Regulatory Assurance (CRRA) group. This group is responsible for the evaluation of current and future renewable regulatory impacts and manages the company’s renewable fuel supply and compliance requirements. The compliance programs currently supported by CRRA include the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), California Cap and Trade, California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), Oregon Clean Fuels Program (CFP), Oregon Climate Protection Program (CPP), Washington’s Clean Fuel Standard (CFS), and Washington’s Climate Commitment Act (CCA). In this role, the Advanced/Senior Compliance Analyst will collaborate with internal teams, such as Refining, Accounting, Legal, MPLX, ES&S, etc., and external consultants to ensure compliance with program requirements . This position is integral to maintaining adherence to regulations, identifying and implementing process improvements, and advancing the organization’s renewable and carbon initiatives. This role offers flexibility in location and can be based at any MPC field or office site. This position is part of a job family with multiple grade levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications. Key Responsibilities: + Manage compliance and support process improvements associated with renewable programs (Federal RFS, State Low Carbon Fuel (CA-LCFS, Cap-and-Trade; OR- CFP and CPP, WA- CFS and CCA). + Provide compliance support for Trading and Commercial Operations. + Lead submission, support, review and prepare regulatory reports (quarterly and annual), attestations, verifications and associated documentation. + Collaborate with stakeholders (Accounting, IT, Trading, Refining, MPLX, Operations, etc) to align processes and reconcile forecasts. + Coordinate cross-functional training sessions to foster understanding of compliance processes and goals. + Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders, consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to regulatory programs. + Attend conferences and webinars to stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices. Communicate changes to stakeholders that could impact commercial business. + Review, implement, and develop processes and procedures regulated to regulatory fuel requirements. + Provide internal and external data analysis to support the Renewable Fuels Compliance position and overall objectives for the R&LC group. Skills/Experience: + Proven ability to handle detailed reporting requirements and manage deadlines + Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience in cross-departmental coordination + Analytical mindset with the ability to identify process improvements and implement solutions effectively + Proficient in Excel + Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills Minimum Qualifications: + A Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or other related field is required. + 2-years of industry-related experience is required, with experience in operations or compliance preferred. + Knowledge of existing Renewable Programs is preferred.
