EF High School Exchange Year is seeking certified teachers to work with international high school exchange students at its camp held on the Muhlenberg College campus in Allentown, PA.  EF International High School Camp is a summer orientation program that blends the feel of summer camp with a simulated American high school experience to help international students grow more comfortable, confident, and prepared as they begin their exchange journey.  In a welcoming environment, students engage in enriching programming, practice skills from communication to English language skills, and form strong bonds and memories with other exchange students that will last a lifetime.
The ideal candidate:Has a desire to work and inspire international exchange students, ages 14-18Is familiar with the exchange student experience and community Supports a positive team atmosphere through kindness and inclusivityHas a “nothing is impossible” attitude and is willing to go the extra mile to deliver high quality programming                                                                Has a strong ability to assess interpersonal dynamicsIs comfortable having constructive conversations with studentsResponsive to feedback and adapting for the needs of the programIs enthusiastic, patient, creative, flexible and has a great sense of humor Is comfortable in an airport/assisting students with check-in processes Able to assist small or large-scale group activities, and physically participate in activities & tripsHas stamina to work in a program that includes some late night and early morning shiftsExperience with non-native English speakers in a classroom setting A deep understanding of cultural differences  Camp is broken up into two (2) separate sessions and includes staff training as detailed below. Teachers must be available for the full duration of the summer. Staff arrivals: July 11Training: July 12-15Session 1: July 16 – 26Campus preparation/working day: July 29Session 2: July 30 – August 9Staff departures: August 10
Responsibilities:
Teachers work within a 4-person “High School” team to simulate a high school experience for 90-100 students daily. Each teacher is specifically responsible for overseeing “homeroom” of approximately 25 students. Responsibilities include teaching curriculum around adjusting to life on exchange in America, leading activities and competitions, assisting with student arrivals/departures, supervising off-campus trips (New York City, Philadelphia, and Dorney Amusement Water Park), and helping maintain overall student morale and spirit.   Requirements: Qualified candidates must have an up-to-date teaching certification. All staff must complete two online training modules to familiarize themselves with the EF High School Exchange Year program and attend training before student arrivals. Teachers are expected to prepare for training by reviewing all curriculum and coming prepared with any questions or suggestions. Compensation:
Compensation for teachers begins at $3,600 for both sessions, based on tenure. Candidates with past EF Camp teaching experience will be able to choose to work one or both sessions, based on the needs and availability of the program. Class materials and room/board on campus are provided for the duration of the program.
