Job Overview: Tests, calibrates, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Minimum 3 years’ experience internal lab operations. • Trains less skilled technicians in methods, concepts, and procedures. • Participates in on-the-job training and related formal education. • Operates computer software for instrument controllers/computers following established formats and programs. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of internal and proprietary software. • Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment. • Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects. • Measures parts for conformity with specifications. • Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry. • Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment. • Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations. Qualifications Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: Three years related experience in metrology or calibration work; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two-year degree from tech school or equivalent is preferred. Language Ability: Fluent in English. Ability to read, write reports and business correspondence and procedure manuals in English. Math Ability: Basic mathematical skills with the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Office 365 and Adobe and the ability to learn proprietary software. Certificates and Licenses: None required.
